Meet The BHive® partner BESTSELLER

On the mission to bring digitization, transparency and sustainability to the chemical management of the textile industry, The BHive® connects with organizations who share the same vision. As part of our special newsletter editions we would like to draw your attention to one of The BHive®'s industry associates. Down below you will find interesting insights into the work of BESTSELLER.

BESTSELLER aims to accelerate fashion’s journey towards a sustainable reality and sees collaboration as the key to finding solutions and making lasting changes. Sustainability is a prerequisite for BESTSELLER’s ongoing business success, and the ultimate ambition is to bring Fashion FWD until the company is climate positive, fair for all and circular by design.

BESTSELLER on the partnership with The BHive®

Sustainability is increasingly a part of how we see ourselves at BESTSELLER and this shift in mentality is critical to our company’s future. We need to operate our business ethically, produce our products responsibly, build a resilient supply chain, greatly respect everyone involved and provide value to our stakeholders.

BESTSELLER has pledged to removing the use of hazardous chemicals from manufacturing sites during production, and we have a commitment that by 2025 all our core products (core products represent 75% of our products by value) will have been produced using approved and traceable chemistry.

With this goal in mind, in 2018 we partnered with GoBlu and The BHive® to bring transparent chemical usage to our global textile supply chain. The BHive® not only promised to deliver transparency but did so in a way that reduced the workload for our suppliers, which is just the kind of scalable solution the industry needs.

BESTSELLER has made fast progress with The BHive® since it first trialed the app with a handful of key suppliers. Today, 93 factories across Bangladesh, China, India, Pakistan, and Turkey use the pool to report their chemical product usage to BESTSELLER, representing a total of 17,500 chemical product scans.

Moving forward - Driving sustainable chemistry

Following the success of the pilot with its key suppliers, in 2021 BESTSELLER will allow all suppliers with wet processing units to use The BHive® to manage and communicate their chemical inventory data with BESTSELLER.*

"Our experience of using The BHive® has been very positive - it not only streamlines chemical inventory management and certification applications for our suppliers, but it also gives us an accurate global overview of the chemicals being used in our supply chain in real time. We are confident that this solution can be rolled out across our whole supply chain, and we hope our experience will inspire other brands to adopt this solution so that chemical inventory transparency will be the norm for the industry."

- Felicity Tapsell, Responsible Sourcing Manager, BESTSELLER

*BESTSELLER’s suppliers are already expected to maintain chemicals inventories and understand what chemical products are used on-site and whether they comply with the company's standards, and suppliers will still be able to provide a chemical inventory log in a format agreed with BESTELLER's chemical team.
